The Honey Mustard Fall Crunch with Colman’s Mustard

It. Is. Fall. Thank the heavens, the season is here.

I’ve been living in Austin for about four months now, and they have been four of the hottest months of my life. I feel like I, and everyone I know, have been sweating non-stop since June. Ugh. Yet now the heat has broken, the sun is shining, but not nearly as badly and we finally get a moment to breathe… preferably outside, with a crisp breeze.

Due to this joy, I finally get a chance to make some of the snacks I’ve been meaning to make for a while–things with crunch and heat and perfect for fall snacking. While I was thinking about what I would make next, I was contacted by Colman’s Mustard to make a fall snack for tailgating or just overall munching. Huzzah! I love Colman’s and have used it for a ton of different things, mostly because it’s got a mustard taste I like (just the perfect amount of mustard flavor) and some serious heat. Time to bring the punch, y’all.

WHAT DID I MAKE

I was looking for a perfect fall recipe and again, I wanted some crunch and some flavor. In the end, I made a really amazing and very snackable mix that I’m calling: The Honey Mustard Fall Crunch.

Really easy recipe overall. You’re going to need some corn and/or rice cereal, pretzels, peanuts (preferably honey roasted) and mix them all into a giant bowl.

In another dish, mix together butter, honey, onion powder and of course, the Colman’s prepared mustard.

Melt it until it’s all wonderfully mixed together and then mix it together some more. Spread the crunch mix onto a really big tray (or two if you need it) and drizzle the sauce all over.

Make sure everything gets coated and then throw it into the oven at 300 degrees for 20 minutes. Take it out and mix it all together again and then back into the oven for another 20.

Serve hot or let it cool, both delicious!

The Honey Mustard Fall Crunch

An easy-to-make Fall snack with a sweet honey and spicy mustard taste.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup corn or rice cereal
  • 1 cup pretezels
  • 12 oz honey roasted peanuts
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 2 tbsp Coleman’s Mustard
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 1 tbsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder

Instructions

  1. Mix together the cereal, pretzels and peanuts in a large bowl.

  2. Put the butter, mustard, honey, salt and onion powder in a bowl.

  3. Melt in the microwave for about 30 seconds or until liquid.

  4. Spread the cereal mixture onto a large tray (or two small ones if it won't fit).



  5. Pour the mustard mixture over the cereal. Make sure to coat everything.

  6. Preheat the oven to 300 degrees. When ready, bake tray in the oven for 20 minutes. Take out and mix it all together again. Then bake for another 20 minutes.



  7. Remove from oven and eat!

This can be eaten warm or left to cool and then eaten, either is delicious. Enjoy!
