Every Bite Of Italian Brunch at Francesca’s On Chestnut!

Brunch brunch brunch brunch brunch brunch brunch.

Did I mention I love brunch? I can say it a few more times if you need me too.

We were at the bank the other day and the teller told us that he’d only had brunch once in his life and wasn’t planning on ever doing it again, and I think my head my head exploded.

Honestly, I goddam love brunch. You know why? This is why:

So when I was invited down to try Francesca on Chestnut’s new brunch, I only had one answer and that answer is, “BRUNCH!”

BRUNCH WITH AN ITALIAN TWIST

Francesca’s had me down because they added a few really interesting items to their brunch menu for spring. Here’s what they sent to me.

Francesca’s on Chestnut revamped their menu just in time for spring! Enjoy a variety of sweet and savory options as well as a cocktail menu that can’t be beat…a few menu highlights include:

Brioche French Toast ($10)
thick-cut brioche and chef’s seasonal inspiration

Shrimp & Grits ($17)
Italian polenta, South Carolina shrimp, tomatoes, and herbs

Arancini Benedict ($13)
crispy risotto, prosciutto, poached egg, hollandaise, and house potatoes

Rigatoni alla Paesana ($13)
rigatoni with roasted sausage, wild mushrooms, and peas in a light tomato cream sauce

The full menu is available for your convenience HERE.

SO WHAT DID WE EAT?

What didn’t we eat. Here’s a selection of a few things:

ARANCINI BENEDICT
crispy risotto, prosciutto, poached egg, hollandaise, and house potatoes

SHRIMP & GRITS
compoteitalian polenta, south carolina shrimp, tomatoes, and herbs

BLUEBERRY RICOTTA PANCAKES
blueberry-lemon compote

SMOKED SALMON SALAD
ducktrap smoked salmon, farro, corn, arugula, asiago cheese, grapetomatoes, marcona almonds, raisins, and green goddess dressing

ITALIAN BLT
maple-glazed pepper bacon, sliced tomato, avocado, arugula, and garlic mayonnaise

Oh man, that was a feast. I will say, for standout dishes, the Arancini Benedict was one of the most clever takes on the dish I’ve ever tried and that runny egg was damn perfection. The shrimp and grits were also incredible, made with that perfect smooth butteryness of the polenta and spiced shrimp. Mmm.

THE SERVICE

Here’s what I really like about Franceca’s. It’s got an old world Italian restaurant kind of feeling. Dapper waiters, white tablecloths, really excellent service. We were so well looked after and everything we asked for was brought to us right away.

We we’re even a bit annoying about the photos, and asked if they could change the white paper above the tablecloth between courses, so our pics would look clean and nice. They did it without complaint and without hesitation

SMOKED SALMON SALAD
ducktrap smoked salmon, farro, corn, arugula, asiago cheese, grapetomatoes, marcona almonds, raisins, and green goddess dressing

(Yes, we we’re those annoying people, but look how nice everything came out!)

I’m sad today is only Wednesday. I would do brunch again here right now if I could. Let’s all say it together, one last time:
