An Early Taste of Xmas At Ben’s Canteen!

img_7345🎶  Sleigh bells ring, are you listening? 🎶

Ah, sorry, those aren’t sleigh bells, that’s just my stomach. And it is a-rumblin’.

There are lots of things I like about Christmas in London: the lights, the good feelings, the smiling people, the hearty cheer, and so on. But all of those are topped, and I mean topped, by one bit of this time of the year: The Christmas food! Oh yes, from the mulled wine to the special turkey and cranberry sandwich at Pret, there’s no time to eat like it.

So when I was invited down to Ben’s Canteen to try their Xmas Burger a little early, well, how could I say no?

THE LOADED CHRISTMAS SANDWICH

I like Ben’s Canteen in Battersea a lot. We’ve done a few Yelp events with them in the past and it’s always this nice combination of local flavour and unique eats, and this particular Christmas monster was no exception. I mean, honestly, take a look at this baby…

img_7401If you’re wondering what’s in this delicious looking bugersaurus, it is:

Sage And Shallot Buttermilk Turkey Breast
Squashed Stuffing Ball
Slow Roasted Honey & Mustard Ham Hock
Brie Cranberry Sauce
Buttered Brussel Tops
Garlic Mayo

Woah mama.

BEN’S OTHER EATS

We also did a few starters and drinks, including vodka and flavoured sodas (mine was like a cinnamon and vanilla gingerbread cookies) a seriously tasty Scotch Egg and DIY guacamole, which you got to smash and muddle yourself (not a bad way to take out any Christmas-level frusterations you might already have) as well as Doctor’s DIY Mini Doughnuts with chocolate sauce, strawberry jam and maple & vanilla custard that you inject right into the treat. Oooh.

If you’re looking for a solid and hearty Xmas treat, walk into the Canteen and spread the holiday joy.

The Ben’s Canteen Loaded Christmas Burger is £13.50 at either their Battersea or Earlsfield location. They are also doing Bottomless Bubbles Every Night, which is any burger or main course plus unlimited sparkling wine every night for £35 Per Person starting at 5pm.
