Le Burger Feast At Le Bun

img_4523Sometimes, you just have to go a little burger crazy.

Street food favourites Le Bun are in the process of looking for their first restaurant. In the meantime, they’ve moved away from the stall and created a residency at Birthday’s in Dalston. And it is truly excellent. And messy. Excellent and messy.

I’m actually a giant fan of both of these things, so putting together is an incredible win. I live down the road from Birthday’s and know that it’s always going to be a bit of a, well, hot mess is the nicest way to put it. But I mean that in the best way possible: loud, packed and serving up some incredible food. They’re residencies they’ve done in the past, from Coqfighter to Lucky Chip to Stacks Poutine. It’s always something local, interesting and delicious as hell.

And Le Bun are just quality. Quality meat, quality bread, quality cheese and then it’s the little touches that make them exceptional.

Now, they’re doing the classic Le Bun classics, like the drool-worthy truffle cheeseburger… Yes, a truffle cheeseburger. If that doesn’t get your heart started, I don’t know what will. They’re also doing some of chef Andyโ€™s brand new dishes like Nashville seriously hot fried chicken, pig cheek mac & cheese and their National Burger Day crowd-pleaser: โ€˜Le Macโ€™, alongside their classic Le Duck Frites and Le Beef Bourguignon.

Ready for the Food Porn from what we ate last night, because here it comes:

Get there.

THE GOOD: The food at Le Bun is solidly quality. Get the truffle burger, which is an incredible classic, and then try their new fried chicken burger and the mac and cheese with pig cheek, both which blew my mind.

THE BAD: The later it gets, the crazier Birthday’s gets. If you want a nice quiet meal, go earlier. If you want a loud drunken evening with a damn delicious burger, then welcome home.

The Le Bun residency can be found at Birthday’s, 33-35 Stoke Newington Rd, N16 8BJ, until the end of January. Don’t miss it.

And if you’ve been to Le Bun or Birthday’s before, make sure to give them a review on Yelp! I’d love to know what you think.
