Alex

Alex Shebar is constantly reminded that he is an American. Of course, this is what happens when you move to London but haven't quite given up the accent (he does spell "favourite" with a 'u' and say, "rubbish," though.)

Born in Boston, and Yelp's former Community Manager of Cincinnati, he emigrated to The Old Smoke in 2012 and never looked back.

Alex now enjoys bad films, strong gin and a brightly coloured Instagram account. Hopefully you enjoy his posts about London and around the world (or at least, those previously mentioned brightly coloured photos.)

A Chicago Adventure with JORD!

As many of you know, in the last few months I moved to Chicago, and have been slowly exploring my new home. Today, I take on the neighborhood of Near North Side. It’s kind of a strange name for an area (can’t you either be North Side or, you know, it’s own thing?) but it’s a beautiful location and very walkable, which I love. …

Some of the Strangest Food You Could Encounter Around the World!

Now, as I’ve now learned, many people see it as a challenge to try the world’s most unusual dishes. I’ve …

Book It To The First American Writers Museum!

“It is one of the paradoxes of American literature that our writers are forever looking back with love and nostalgia at lives they couldn’t wait to leave.” – Anatole Broyard I’m not going to lie here. As a former dual-major in English and Journalism, getting an invite to the opening of the first-of-its-kind American Writers Museum gave me a little tingle of glee. How could you …

Michael Jordan Steakhouse Is An Absolute Game Changer!

So when I was invited down to try The Table 23 Menu at Michael Jordan Steakhouse, here’s what I pictured: TVs with the game on, sports memorabilia on the walls, loud noises, bar food, the works. You know, the usual. What I got though was elegance. Truly, pure elegance. Elegant food, elegant armopehre, elegant staff, an elegant evening. Yes, seriously, all that elegance from a steakhouse …
