Alex

Alex Shebar is constantly reminded that he is an American. Of course, this is what happens when you move to London but haven't quite given up the accent (he does spell "favourite" with a 'u' and say, "rubbish," though.)

Born in Boston, and Yelp's former Community Manager of Cincinnati, he emigrated to The Old Smoke in 2012 and never looked back.

Alex now enjoys bad films, strong gin and a brightly coloured Instagram account. Hopefully you enjoy his posts about London and around the world (or at least, those previously mentioned brightly coloured photos.)

Giving Thanks At The Four Seasons!

Some people have time-honored family traditions when it comes to Thanksgiving. They travel across the country or spend the day preparing food in order to sit down to a meal with loved ones, giving thanks for everything they have and everything they have together. And others, you know, don’t. Thanksgiving’s actually a fun holiday for me since I married a lovely English girl who, surprise …

What In The World Is This: The Great Minnesota State Fair!

All’s fair in love and war… and fair food on a stick. Since moving to Chicago, I’ve had the chance to check out cities I can say I never really thought of traveling through before, and they’ve all been fantastic. I’ve seen The Arch of St. Louis, The Bronze Fonze of Minneapolis, the farm side of Illinois and now, The Great Minnesota State Fair. Now, …

“Maybe I’m crazy, maybe I’m out of my mind! But God help me, I will keep these lights up until the day I die if I think there’s a chance that Will’s still out there!” – Nancy Byers Stranger Things doesn’t return for another season of mystery and 80s-throwbacks until late October, but that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy all the nostalgia-tinged moment right now. …

When You Play The Game Of Phones…

Well, you win or you die, obviously! A few weeks ago, I was contacted by AT&T to see if I wanted to help promote a gigantic Game of Thrones event and promotion they’re running. I mean, as someone who waits with baited breath each Sunday to see which dragon will roast which character, how could I say no? I was invited down to the kickoff event …

Frosé, All Day!

All right, I’m not afraid to say it: I’m in love with a good food trend. Yes, it’s easy to blow of the edible item du jour as just a fad, or annoying, or if someone mentions pumpkin spice one more time you’re going to literally go insane, and I get it. But there is a joy in something that simply brings joy: tiny food, …
